PLANNING A TRIP TO TURKS AND CAICOS

WRITTEN BY:

Turks and Caicos will forever hold a special place in our hearts and be a home away from home so I wanted to give you as much information as possible on things to consider when planning a trip to Turks and Caicos.

When I mean this place is special to us, I really mean it! From being conceived there (yep, true story), to meeting Casey on the island, to working there for a year, to meeting some of our closest friends, to getting married there in February 2019, this place means SO much to us!

I do want to note, this was all written before the pandemic so I am not entirely sure what has changed in terms of some activities but hopefully things will slowly adjust back to “normal” as time continues to move forward.

RECOMMENDATIONS WHEN VISITING TURKS AND CAICOS:

  • 1️⃣ Stay at Club Med Turkoise if you are looking for fun, adults only, all inclusive! Yes, this does mean your drinks are included! (***also, as I am writing this during the pandemic, they are testing right at the resort for any guests needing to provide a negative test upon re-entry to your country of residence)
  • 2️⃣ If you don’t stay there, make sure to at least get a day pass or night pass! Friday night is usually “All White Night” dress code, circus show in the pool, and AMAZING food and party! Again, simply check ahead of time in case any of this has changed or been moved to a different night, but their white night party is usually amazing!
  • 3️⃣ Have lunch Da Conch Shack! Hands down my favorite place on the island! Our rehearsal dinner was there so obviously we love it! If you don’t do lunch, go on a Wednesday night for live music and great vibes 🌴🎶 The fish tacos, conch salad and rum punch are my fav! If you meet the owner, Johnny Mac, tell him Casey and Carly say hi!
  • 4️⃣ Enjoy sunset drinks at Grace Bay Club.
  • 5️⃣ Do ANY activity on the water! Snorkeling and diving are great on the island! 🐠
  • 6️⃣ Get spray tan before you go so you can enjoy all the activities and not worry about getting the tan. Obviously we want the tan! hahaha but the last couple times I have traveled to the beach, I LOVE having a little pre-glow.
  • 7️⃣ Go to the Fish Fry on Thursday night. It’s a local street market with amazing food, live music, and great local island vibes. (Check to make sure this has not changed. It truly is an amazing local experience!)
  • 8️⃣ Another fun sunset bar is called “Somewhere.” Try to get seats up their little roof terrace!
  • 9️⃣ If possible, travel there between the months of November and June. (February and March are peak season). This will is when it is a little less humid, not as many bugs, and not during hurricane season.
  • 🔟 In our opinion, try to stay anywhere on Grace Bay. It truly is the most incredible part of the island! You can also find beautiful places to stay on Long Bay but you might experience a bit more wind on that side. Beautiful sunrises usually though! And sometimes you will see some great kite boarding! But just wanted to note that!
